Lack of Respect Between Players
It seems to me that the majority of professional players have little or no respect for eachother. If they do, then they hide it well! Yes, they seem to be fairly friendly if they happen to turn out together for an England international match, but when they share the pitch in opposing colours, it seems to me that all humanity drains from their bodies.
For example, if Player A accidentally treads painfully on the ankle of Player B - obviously Player B drops to the floor clutching his leg. However, nine times out ten, Player A seems to have no interest whatsoever in the welfare of Player A. He doesn't apologise. He doesn't hold his hand up and gesture as if he has remorse. He just walks away!
Furthermore, if the referee gives a free kick for this and reaches for his yellow card, he will likely remonstrate with him, arguing with ferocious intensity. Where's the humanity? Why do they act this way? I just don't get it. Is it because the majority of football supporters interpret compassion as a sign of weakness? Is it coming from management? Either way, it demonstrates a dark side to humanity!

Maybe I just walk around too much with my nostalgic hat on. But as an example, I just love watching footage of old games where (for example) Pelé is stretching out Bobby Moore's legs because he has cramp! When would you ever see that today?! Yes it's possible, but mutual admiration and respect seem to be uncommon occurrences.
As for supporters...well they are often worse than the players! I went to see Bournemouth play Yeovil a short while back and the man just in front of me spent almost the entire match looking across at the away Yeovil supporters, shouting at them, gesturing and generally giving them aggro. I'm not sure he saw much of the actual game. Why was he there? I don't get it.
Supporters are also amazingly aggressive against players of the opposing team too. You see it often on television - especially if one is taking a corner for example. Sometimes you see faces in the background - faces that look like they would tear the player limb from limb if they could reach them! Why are they so hostile?
What does it say about people? I will happily clap a superb goal from an opposing player (that I like), and I often shout encouragement to an opposing player on the ball when I watch on television (eg. 'send it now!') - because I'm always thinking what I think he should be doing at that moment. Maybe I'm just a bit weird.
